Todd Marinovich has had one wild ride and middle age has not changed his ways in the slightest, as the mercurial NFL bust found himself in trouble with the law yet again on Friday night.
This time around, he was found nude in a yard that did not belong to him, while in possession of marijuana. The police received a complaint about the presence of Marinovich around 9 PM and he was cited for trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
He was seen naked on a bike trail, carrying marijuana in a brown paper bag. This latest arrest is just another unfortunate event in a life that has been full of disappointments and quizzical behavior. Marinovich starred at USC and his exploits led the Raiders to tab him as their quarterback of the future, as they drafted him with the 24th overall pick in 1991.
His drug problems would eventually derail his NFL career before it had a chance to truly get underway and after failing a series of drug tests, the NFL suspended him for the entirety of the 1993 season. After the ruling came down, the Raiders elected to part ways with Marinovich and he would never take another NFL snap.
He was arrested in 1997 for the cultivation of marijuana, in 2005 for drug possession and again in 2007 for unauthorized possession of a hypodermic needle, resisting arrest and felony possession of a controlled substance.
While he was able to play in the Arena League and the Canadian Football League, his drug problems kept his comeback efforts from being successful. His latest brush with the law suggests that they are far from behind him.
