After several sponsors, including Speedo, dropped their publicity deals with Lochte, the 12-time Olympic medallist decided to join the cast for the “Dancing With The Stars” season 23.
The news was confirmed by a source inside the network and the premiere will air on September 12.
Following his actions during his staying in Rio, on Monday, four sponsors dropped their partnerships with the troubled swimmer.
In order to clean up his reputation, the 32-year-old decided to participate in the celebrity show produced by ABC.
Although the U.S Olympic swimmer refused to make any comment sources revealed that the American broadcasting television shared their idea with Lochte before the Olympic Games.
The announcement of the cast is scheduled to take place on ABC’s “Good Morning America”.
Big names such as Ralph Lauren, Speed and Airweave are just a few of the companies that dropped their partnerships with the swimmer.
The American athlete finished the Olympic Games with a gold medal after winning the 4×200 relay.
The dancing show will not be Lochte’s first rodeo when it comes to reality TV. In 2013, Ryan appeared on his first reality series on E! called “What Would Ryan Lochte Do?”.
The reality series debuted on April 21, 2013, and focused on the American competitive swimmer and Olympian daily activities such as spending time with his family and friends, creating his clothing line and preparing for the 2016 Summer Olympics. In the reality show, you could see the athlete struggling to find his soulmate.
