WhatsApp initiated the process of sharing users information with parent company Facebook.

Apparently, the main purpose of this merge is help users to find friends and “improve their Facebook ads and products experiences”.

After 2014, when the messaging service was acquired by Facebook, most users showed their concern regarding the confidentiality policy. In order to assure their customers that everything is fine, co-founder Jan Koum published a message on his personal blog.

The official announcement released yesterday by the messaging app regarding the merge with Facebook, says that sharing users phone number it will also give businesses a new avenue to reach potential customers.

According to Facebook, the new policy allows the social network to send advertisements to all WhatsApp users and messages regarding their new improvements and updates.

The application has to be really careful when it comes to these new changes, especially the advertisement messages from Facebook because users are not very happy about the situation.

In addition, Whatsapp stated that they are working with a group of private companies in order to create a new and easier method for them to contact their clients.

WhatsApp said: “We won’t post or share your WhatsApp number with others, including on Facebook, and we still won’t sell, share, or give your phone number to advertisers.”

The messaging service was acquired by Facebook in 2014 for $20 billion dollars.

Two years ago, after they were acquired by Facebook, WhatsApp promised their users to remain completely independent. Let’s see how they are planning to do that after the recent announcement.
