Monday brought a fresh round of stories concerning presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s private email, following the release of a new set of emails to the public. These emails were sent via her private email server set up before her tenure as secretary of State began.
Clinton gave several emails to the State Department (they were released in 14 batches from May 2015 through March this year), responding to the Judicial Watch’s Freedom of Information Act suit. In all, the department revealed 52,000 emails to the public.
Judicial Watch on Monday, released hundreds of pages of emails by Clinton’s aide Huma Abedin, via the same email server Clinton was using.
There Was Another Batch
A group known as Citizens United asked for all official emails in connection with the Clinton Foundation from the State Department staff. Some of the documents have also included email traffic derived from the Clinton server.
On Monday, the State Department said that the FBI has discovered another 15,000 emails in its investigation of Clinton’s email server. The department revealed that it will state releasing those later in the year
Note that some of these emails might be duplicates of already released emails while some might be new (that were either overlooked or deleted).
None of these emails have shown evidence of crime for now according to FBI Director, James Comey. He said that although Clinton had been careless regarding her handling of classified data over her private email server, which is not enough to result in criminal charges.
Although Clinton said she and her lawyers have destroyed 30,000 purely personal emails, it is possible that a number of these emails will be recovered. Meaning that she may never be certain about the number of emails sent from her personal system that have been revealed to the public.
