At the United States Open this year, Caroline Wozniacki seemed hopeless in the game against Svetlana Kuznetsova.

The first set was a disaster for Caroline, as she was down with 0-4 in the first set and 0-30 in the fifth. Her father was desperately trying to calm her down from the player’s box but nothing seemed to work.

But then everything changed, she got back on track and captured the fifth game and all of the next six rounds as well, being one of the most accurate U-turns from the United States Open ever seen, scoring a 6-4, 6-4 on the second round, this Wednesday.

“Five minutes ago I was up, 4-0, and then I’ve lost the set,” said Kuznetsova. “One or two points, then she started to believe.”

After her season was all wrecked with unexpected defeats and injuries, when Wozniacki was stuck recovering from a very bad ankle problem for almost three months, her comeback was a long waited success this Wednesday.

She was on the top of the charts six years ago, but fell down at number 74 this year, although her well-known reputation would suggest otherwise.

“I always believe in myself, and I always think that in my head I belong to the top of the game,” she said. “I’m going to have tough draws because of my ranking, but at the end of the day I’m healthy, and that’s the main thing. Then I can start building from that.”

Although rumors about her quitting the world of tennis came out, she assured she still has years to come and that she still feels young enough and will continue playing, regardless the bad mouths.
