Summer holidays might harm your skin after exposing it the sun for weeks.
After spending too much time in the sun your skin begins to sweat and side effects such as sunburns are not the most pleasant experience.
When the damaged skin begins to peel, your first thought is to use a scrubbing lotion while you’re taking a shower? Although at first, scrubbing might sound like a good idea, it’s actually, not! Skin injuries can be caused by a fungus and they’re not fun either.
Pityriasis is a condition generated by a fungus, that causes superficial injuries on your skin, especially in the torso and shoulders area. The main responsible is a fungus known as ‘Malassezia’, found on 90% of your skin surface.
‘Malassezia’ causes injuries, similar to those spots that appear on your body, after your skin starts peeling. The ugly part is that ‘Malassezia’ injuries do not disappear unless you treat them with antifungal remedies.
Although some areas of your skin surface might not seem affected, the fungus is spread all over your body but the spots become visible after sun exposure.
The most common symptoms for Pityriasis are oval-shaped spots with little bulges. The colors vary from light pink, beige and even brown.
You can treat or prevent them by using an antifungal shampoo, a special cream or pills. Shampoos are available without a medical prescription.
Although the healing process is smooth, the risk the recurrence is very high. Especially in the hot season.
