The South-Korean tech giant announced the unexpected recall of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 because the battery might explode while charging.

CEO Koh Dong-jin declared that clients who acquired the Galaxy Note 7 have the opportunity to replace it with a new one, regardless the acquisition date.

The recall announcement comes two weeks after the official launching. Reports regarding the battery issue forced the company to delay several international shipments and side-effects are starting to notice in the sales area.

Since last week, the South-Korean giant is under serious pressure due to unexpected shipment delays.

The not-so-pleasant situation caused Samsung to lose more than $7 billion in the Asian smartphone market.

On Wednesday, CEO Dong-jin announced that shipments were annulled amid quality control.

“This a major hit for Samsung, considering the appreciation level earned by the Note 7“, stated IDC analyst Bryan Ma.

“The Apple launching puts them under massive pressure because they are forced to solve this problem even quicker”, added the specialist.

The problems regarding their most recent product could seriously affect the South-Korean producer, who relied on Galaxy Note 7 to compete with iPhone7.

Last year, the screen from Galaxy S6 lead to the most disappointing sale numbers.

If they don’t fix the situation as quick as they can, the history might repeat.

According to an unnamed Samsung official that spoke earlier to Yonhap, the vast majority of Note 7 phones should be unaffected, despite the sweeping recall
