Indian authorities will give tourists free cards for mobile, which are hard to get in this country, because of the bureaucracy.

SIM cards will be offered to foreign tourists arriving in India with electronic visas, according to Deutsche Welle.

In India, for no reason, it is very difficult to get a mobile number so that tourists depend on phone booths to call or lose more time with formalities for assigning numbers.

A message posted on Tripadvisor in July 2014 is telling the process which a foreign tourist arrived in India must pass for a SIM.

“You need to prepare these documents that you give to the seller, along with an application form: two photos of the passport, a black and white copy of the page of the passport with personal details, copy of the visa of India, copy of proof of home address in country of origin (passport, driving license or other document issued by the government) and evidence of address which you have in India”.

After verification of these documents, you will receive an immediate SIM card with a 10-digit number, which is activated within 24 hours after you called an operator to confirm some of the information provided in the application.

And if you go in different states of India you must enable roaming, otherwise, you have to buy a new SIM every time.

The tourism Ministry hopes to launch the program of distributing free SIM cards to tourists on September 27, the World Tourism Day.

According to a report by the international organization World Travel & Tourism Council, tourism has brought 6% of India’s gross domestic product in 2015.

The country hopes to improve its reputation among visitors and attract more of them.

Already, after the introduction of the electronic visa, available in 150 countries, India has increased the number of tourists from 6.3 million in 2011 to 8.03 million last year.
