A helicopter owned by the Swiss army crashed in the Swiss Alps, in the Gothard pass road.
According to the Swiss Defence Ministry, several people were injured.
‘The helicopter collapsed near the Saint Gothard bughouse. Several people were injured’, wrote the Minister on the local social network.
He also added that the rescue units rushed to the scene.
The impact occurred at the 12:00 local time.
According to Ticino executive, Norman Gobbi, the aircraft was a Super Puma model.
The incident occurred just a month after the Swiss Army aircraft F / A-18 crashed in the Swiss Alps while performing an exercise. The pilot died.
In June, two F-5E Tiger military aircraft collided during a training in Netherlands and one caught fire and crashed. The pilot managed to catapult.
Swiss Air Force CEO, Aldo Schellenberg confirmed the number of victims during a press conference held in Bern on Wednesday afternoon. Schellenberg said he was “deeply shocked”. Although she was severely injured, one of the flight assistants was able to communicate with the authorities.
Over the past 20 years, in the Gothard pass road, more than 12 accidents involving Swiss Air Force jets or helicopters caused the death of 21 people.
Another serious incident involving a helicopter in Switzerland was in March 2011 when a ‘Cougar‘ helicopter crashed during a training flight in a cloud. Both the instructor and pupil were seriously injured.
The exact number of the passengers involved in the incident was not revealed yet.
