The Chinese airline, Air China, is accused of racist remarks. In the magazine of the company, the Chinese tourists coming from China to London are advised to take care when going in neighborhoods populated by black people, Pakistani, and Indians.
The article which was printed in both Chinese and English says:
‘London is generally a safe place to travel, however, precautions are needed when entering areas mainly populated by Indians, Pakistanis, and black people.’
The company is the third largest company of this kind in China and has daily flights, even two per day, from Beijing to London.
After a woman published the ‘advice’, many people on the social media called the company and the one who wrote it ‘racist’.
The article also said that women should not go alone on the street, especially at night, being advised to be in someone’s company if needed to go out when it’s already dark outside.
One Labour MP for Tooting expert, Dr. Rosena Allin-Khan expressed her concern on the matter asking the company for explanations about the article and the reason why they thought to write such a thing about London, stating that it should be removed and that the article is a great offense for the Londoners.
‘I am going to be writing to the Chinese Ambassador to invite him to visit Tooting in London, where all races live side by side. Then they can see how we live and our wonderfully diverse community,’ the woman also said.
Ink Global is the company that writes the magazine in cause and is made in Singapore, London, and New York.
