This theory definitely changes the stereotype about older women giving birth. It seems like everybody thinks that the older you are the more affected your off-spring will be.
This discovery comes to destroy all that you previously thought about it. There are great chances that these kids will be smarter.
Financial situation and healthy habits are what are influencing this result more, rather than age.
Nowadays, more and more women choose to start a family when they are older. Most want to build a career and reach a financial stability before planning such a big thing.
The study was led in London and included the children born in 2001. In comparison to children that were born by older mothers but years before they did, these kids were smarter and have better cognitive skills.
Researchers think this is owed to the way older women have changed in time.
In the past, old women had their fourth children at this age, but now, women have their first one. Older women are able to provide more interest and a better education for their off-spring because they already have a financial stability.
As well, older women pay more attention to their healthiness. They are less prone to smoking during the pregnancy.
But what means more than anything else in developing your kids’ cognitive skills is the attention.
As other studies show, the ones born first are smarter than their younger siblings and that’s because their parents give them much more attention and get involved in their education more. It’s easier to focus your attention on just one rather than two or more.
