Your smartphone could become a tool for diagnosing diseases.
Smartphones are gradually becoming laboratory instruments that can perform a number of saving functions.
Also, smartphones can measure your bone density, calculate the level of red blood cells in the body or prevent an asthma attack.
Researchers are trying to adapt the existing technology to our human needs.
There are already many medical functions that our phones can successfully perform, mentioning here the existence of an application by which it can identify skin cancer.
But, scientists wants to extend those capabilities.
For instance, the leading researcher of this project had designed an application that can detect the level of red blood cells in the body by placing your finger on the camera and flash of your mobile phone.
Flashlight passes through your skin and can instantly detect any deficiencies.
The team believes that, in the future, mobile technology will be so advanced that our smartphones can detect bone diseases, by kicking it to a bone area. Or, it may be able to detect lung deficiencies by using the phone’s microphone.
This is not surprising if we take into account the capabilities of the mobile device and how rapidly is evolving the technology.
Those sensors in your phone can be reconverted in exciting new ways by which you can detect certain diseases.
For example, you can you do a pulmonary evaluation using the phone’s microphone to identify asthma.
This would be a step forward because it would allow those who have health problems to monitor their vital organs on their own.
