Recently, Adolf Hitler’s red phone was available in an auction. On Sunday, an anonymous buyer purchased it for 240.000 dollars.

The phone is a Siemens and has the dictator’s signature. He had it painted in red after it was originally black. The auction based in Maryland said that this was definitely his most feared weapon. This phone brought the death of millions.

Sir Ralph Rayner, an officer from the United Kingdom, received this phone and he passed it further to his son.

The British had to call the Russians that were in Berlin. This happened a day after the Germans surrendered. The man received from Russia this phone, that was once Hitler’s.

The Russians hosted him and they were pleased to offer him this gift. Ralph’s son said that his father returned home with this phone and a figurine of a dog. The figurine was made by slaves in Dachau, a concentration camp from Germany.

His son declared that his father saw the phone as a trophy rather than a symbol of Hitler’s days of glory. It is a symbol of his defeat. At that time, the officer didn’t think a simple phone will become years later an artifact.

The reason why he chose to give the phone to the action is to remind the world how awful the war was, to raise awareness. He was hoping that a museum will buy it so that it will always be on display somewhere.

The customer asked to be kept private.
