The 20th century features some of the biggest stars that ever walked on this planet. Starting from Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor, these celebs are huge.

Of course, they were always glamorous and looking gorgeous, but how did they keep in shape? Apparently, with crazy and often dangerous diets. Here are a few examples:

Maria Callas, who struggled with her weight, managed to become slimmer than ever. Her secret? The tape worm diet. And she is not the only one who tried it. Apparently, it was the latest fashion in the 40’s. What you had to do is swallow the tapeworm and it would absorb the food in your intestines.

According to specialists, this diet is very dangerous, as the tapeworm can seriously affect the body. It’s still a thing this diet. In Mexico, you pay 1500 dollars for it.

Marilyn Monroe had a special recipe for morning. Every morning, she started her day with a glass of milk mixed with a raw egg. She did open up about this diet and said it’s good to start the day with a full meal.

Doctors from today contradict her opinion, as the raw egg can have salmonella.

Monroe had for dinner carrots and broiled liver and many times, she would go to buy ice-cream.

Elvis Presley is in the other extreme, with 8.000 calories meals. The star liked fried PB&J sandwiches. He liked them so much that he sometimes had them in the middle of the night. This soon lead to a major weight problem. Drug addiction were also to blame.

Every meal of his was full and fattening. For breakfast, he had sausages, butter biscuits, eggs and bacon.

Elizabeth Taylor had a thing for peanut butter slathered all over her steak. The late actress liked sour cream and cheese and she indulged all the time.  Her meals were pretty full and even dinners were. She always had a drink to go with what she was eating: mimosas for breakfast and Jack Daniels for dinner.

No matter how crazy they sound, today, they are still a thing and even our celebrities try them.
