On Sunday, Simone Rocha held her runway show. The message she transmitted is wonderful. The designer brought models of all ages on the catwalk and showed that age is just a number.

Lately, fashion has become more approachable and inclusive.

Benedetta Barzini, aged 73, was amongst the models. The Italian model, who also has an acting career, looked gorgeous on the runway. With little makeup and her grey hair pulled in a bun, she took the catwalk by storm.

The designer reveled that this idea reflects the way she sees femininity. Rocha wants inclusivity, she wants her fashion to be available for everyone no matter the age. She wants to dress families, mothers, daughters and grandmas.

The reason why she became a designer is to include everyone. With this show, she wanted to express her beliefs.

Models looked amazing. The makeup was natural and the grey hair was on display. Black was the IT color.

The shows at the NYFW have been different than before and showed a brand-new face of fashion. Plus-size models strutted the runway, politics made it to the catwalk and now older models graced the show.

Michael Kors introduced for the first time a plus size model on his show. Ashley Graham made another major accomplishment.

Also, race was no problem. Kanye West’s show featured a model wearing a hijab, while others sent the message that everyone is equal.

Tommy Hilfiger had “unity” bandanas, while others passed them through the public. Others had shirts with political messages. The boldest one was a Mexican designer who sent a message straight to president Donald Trump.

As the fashion week in New York was so exciting and diverse, we can’t wait to see what the one in Paris is going to bring.
