Scarlett Johansson: "I do not believe in monogamy!"

The actress made a startling statement in a recent interview she gave for a men’s magazine.

Scarlet seems to have lost her confidence in the institution of matrimony.

“With every thing you win, you lose something, right? You must choose a path. I think the idea of this alliance is very romantic. It’s a very nice thing to try. But being married is not the same as not being married and being in a stable relationship. Anyone who says it’s the same, they are probably lying”, said Scarlet.

Apparently, the actress was reflecting on her marital experience.

Scarlet ‘missed’ two marriages and they both lasted for almost two years each.

“Marriage changes things. I have some friends who have been together for ten years, then they signed the papers. So, when I asked them the next day, they told me that yes, things had changed … ”

Scarlet came to think this is not the case for her. It’s a nice responsibility, but yet a responsibility. And she doesn’t seem to enjoy having moral duties towards someone other than herself.

Plus, she doesn’t think that being monogamous is an inherent feature of the human race.

Maybe she’s wrong, but she believes the commitment to only one person for the rest of your life is the terrible result of working hard with yourself and with each other.

And, the fact that it takes so much work for many people – for everyone, in fact – proved Scarlet that marriage it’s not something that comes naturally.

All in all, she respects the idea of marriage, she had even tried to do it, to live it, but, obviously, it is against the human instinct.
