Are you a sports addict or just like to be very active? The scientists have great news for you. You might have a bigger brain compared to the sedentary people.

A new study shows that people who never did sport in their lives have a smaller brain than the ones who were active during their existence, even after 20 years. The analysis was published in Neurology Magazine and could have a great impact on motivating the people to move more.

The brain scans performed by the researchers showed that the persons with a reduced capacity of the movement have a greater possibility to have smaller brains later in their lives, compared to the people who had a better fitness level at a middle age. The capacity was measured by asking the subjects to run on a treadmill and monitor them until their heart rate reached a certain value.

Also, the persons who developed a high blood pressure and heart rate during the exercises presented a higher probability of having smaller brains. A tension above the normal values and a high pulse usually indicate a low fitness level.

The research was made by the specialists from Boston University and they declared that is not known yet at what point in our lives the physical activities are the most important for the health of the brain and the study does not show if a good fitness level among the young adults or the middle-aged is making any difference.

According to former studies, fitness exercises help also the brain to maintain young and active.
