Facebook is accused yet again of copying a major company. Less than a week after they announced that they are introducing Snapchat-like stories, now they introduce emoji reactions that remind us a lot of Slack.

The Messenger application is going to feature ‘Reactions’ and ‘Mentions’ that enable users to react to a certain message with an emotion. For this, you use an emoji.

The company owned by Mark Zuckerberg tested this new feature earlier this month. They will be available these days. Another app owned by Facebook, Work Chat, will feature the same new features.

Reactions is pretty simple to use and fun. All you have to do is press on the message you want and keep your finger pressed and then you will choose from a range of emojis. You have the sad face one, the angry, smiley, love and the thumb up and down ones.

Users can see who reacted to their message and the emotion they used. You will also receive notifications when someone reacts to your message even if you don’t have the app working.

Mentions, on the other hand, enables you to call out someone. What this basically does is mentioning someone in a conversation. Just like the Reactions, this one is pretty simple to use.

All you need to do is type @ or the first letters of that person’s name. The name will then appear highlighted so that the other members of the group can notice. This is great for the ones that ignore group texts on the app.
