Prince Charles is set to become the Prince of Transylvania after he allegedly accepted a proposal suggested by the mayor of Alba Iulia, reported the deputy mayor of the Romanian municipality after he received an official response from the royalty.
The Romanian mayor, Mircea Haba, sent Prince Charles an invite to an event in which he will be named the Honorary Prince of Transylvania.
Although the information was supposed to remain classified for a few more weeks, the deputy mayor spilled the beans in the Romanian press.
‘The local administration made the invite to Prince Charles a few months ago. He will be decorated as the Honorary Prince of Transylvania because he owns many properties here. Today (Tuesday), his response arrived. I don’t know when it will happen, but probably this year, possibly during the same day in which we celebrate our city’, declared Gabriel Pleşa.
‘The Prince of Transylvania title is purely symbolic and it will not bring you any advantage but still we agree that this represents a terrific way to introduce someone.
We understand that being the Prince of Wales is a full-time job and we don’t have any expectations from you. This is just a way to express our gratitude and admiration’, suggest the official letter sent by the Romanian officials.
Since he visited Transylvania for the first time in 1998, Prince Charles has spoken on a number of occasions about his love of the culture, countryside and relaxed way of life.
