For years, the ‘i’ prefix accompanies most Apple products, but only a few are aware by the real significance of this letter

Tech brands come up with all sorts of interesting names when it comes to their products.

However, Apple is determined to stick to the tradition, by offering all their products the ‘i’ code: iPhone, iPad, iMac, iTunes, they all start with the signature letter.

The first Apple product whose name contained the ‘i’ is iMac, a product released by Apple in 1998.

The official launch was also the moment when Steve Jobs explained the connection between the letter and ‘Mac’.

During the conference, the founder of the company stated that ‘i’ comes from the word ‘internet’, the main utility consumers are looking in a computer.

Although this is the original meaning, over the years, the symbolism of the letter became way more complex and, today stands for words that Apple labeled as representative for the brand: innovation, informed, inspired.

Why iPhone will never become Apple phone?

In 2007, when the first iPhone was launched on the market, internet connection on a phone was not exactly something trivial and users became in love with Apple exactly for this reason.
