Nearly 10.000 Japanese men attend the most unusual festival, where they literally step on each other in order to obtain a pair of ‘lucky sticks’.

The Hadaka Matsuri holiday took place on Saturday night in a temple from Okayama.

In the dark, the 10.000 men dressed only in their intimates herded together for more than an hour to catch a pair of blessed wooden sticks.

According to the Nippon tradition, the one who catches them will place the holy objects into a wooden box for good luck and happiness.

Last Saturday, the temperatures in Okayama were below 0 ° C.

Hadaka Matsuri is also known as the ‘holiday of the naked men’ and it’s celebrated on the third Saturday of February.

If a Nippon man wants to attend the ceremony organized in one of the chilliest days of the year, they have to wear this ‘diaper’ made out of white fabric to showcase his courage and manhood.

Soon as they hear the bell from the temple, they climb on a thick rope, attached from the ceiling of the holy place.

Before the competition, the contestants must dip into a river.

Annually, at least 9.000 Japanese men attend the holy celebration.
