Yesterday, the president held a speech in the Congress. The women of the Democratic party wore white in a sign of solidarity.
According to one member, Lois Frankel, they wore white to represent the women’s suffrage.
They want to express their unity against Trump and his administration and their attempts to ruin everything that women managed to establish until now. They think that woman managed to do a lot of progress in the past century and Trump is now a huge threat to that.
These ladies want to continue to fight for women’s rights and will impediment Trump and his staff from ruining what they built.
Some of the women that wore white are part of the Working Group of the Democratic party. This organization has 66 female members. They focus on the issues that concern women and women’s rights.
They fight for equal pay, for an affordable health care system amongst others.
Planned parenthood is also a cause they support.
Since white is the symbol of purity, they thought there is no better way to wear it and send a message.
Hillary Clinton also chose to wear this color in key moments. She wore it in the day Trump had his inauguration ceremony.
Donald Trump has made a lot of sexist comments over the time and women are not exactly his biggest supporters.
While these women chose white, the First Lady wore a black suit that featured sequins. Ivanka Trump wore red.
The president wanted his speech in the Congress to be a fresh start.
