Not many of us see video games as an art but the nomination of ‘Everything’ at the Oscars represents an important step for this industry

Every single year, the video game industry has been generating some astronomical revenues.

In just a few days since it hit the market, Call of Duty grossed almost the same revenue as the newest Star Wars movie.

However, games have always been labeled as the ultimate source of entertainment and certainly not like this artistic manifestation.

In order to change the situation a little bit the first major step in this direction was initiated by the members of the prestigious American Film Academy.

For the first time in the history of the Oscars a video game trailer has been nominated to a category.

The game is known as ‘Everything’ and the promo clip resembles more with a short feature meant to draw the attention upon the philosophical experience gained by the players who use the simulator.

The promo clip is about 11 minutes long and the commentarial voice belongs to British philosopher Alan Watts.

The combination of visual and auditory elements highlights the interconnected nature of our surrounding world.

With a bit of luck, ‘Everything’ might take home the Oscar for the best animated short feature.

Defined as a philosophical simulator of the surrounding world, ‘Everything’ is completely different from anything you ever had the chance to experience.

You could say that it has something in common with a few games you’ve enjoyed in the last decades, but the final result is completely out of this world.

The mastermind behind this amazing project is actor David O’Reilly.
