South East Asia’s ABC correspondent, Adam Harvey, was injured in his neck by a stray bullet during a live broadcast in Marawi, Philippines, where government forces are struggling to ward off the ISIS jihadists.

According to The Guardian, Harvey’s condition is stable and immediately after he was out of surgery he published on Twitter that ‘he is ok’ despite the fact the bullet is still in his neck.

Nearly 200.000.000 Marawi inhabitants were evacuated from the island by the authorities, especially from the area where ISIS established its headquarters.

However, between 5000 and 1.000 civilians are still trapped in the conflict area.

Although the fight was intense in the last weeks and the government forces managed to make some progress, Duterte and his soldiers have before they reach to the leaders of the Maute group, who rule the Mindanao branch of ISIS.

Earlier this week, the chief of Indonesian armed forces, General Gatot Nurmantyo, revealed the jihadists already spread their ‘latent cells’ of combatants, who only wait for the order in order to go into action.

Marawi resident Chico Usman told CNN that when terrorists entered the city, the people became terrified and rushed to leave the town.

Rodrigo Duterte and his administration urged an impressive group of militants into the region and after numerous clashes between the army and the ISIS soldiers, the airstrikes and the bomb attacks caused the death of 100.

Unfortunately, most of the victims were civilians caught in the middle of the civil war.
