The American aid worker who died last year during an airstrike in Syria was sexually abused and tortured by ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Although they are heart-broken, Marsha and Carl Mueller got to see Kayla last words.

The short footage was released by the FBI and represented a proof-of-life video, used by the extremists in order to negotiate with the U.S. government.

In the video, Kayla is wearing a black hijab and a green shirt. She looked weakened and diseased.

“My name is Kayla Mueller. I need your help. I’ve been here too long and I’ve been very sick and it’s it’s very terrifying here.”, said the late aid-worker.

During an interview set to air on 20/20 on Friday, Marsha can hardly contain her tears.

‘”I saw how thin she looked but I saw that her eyes were very clear and steady,’ she said. ‘It broke my heart but I also saw her strength.”, added Marsha.

Kayla and her Syrian boyfriend were kidnapped by a group of ISIS militants on August 4, 2013.

Omar Alkhani and Kayla were working at Doctors Without Borders organization. They were taken from a vehicle, near a hospital in Aleppo.

Following their abduction, Kayla became Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s sex slave and imprisoned in a dungeon for more than 18 months.

Although the information regarding her death is not very specific, the U.S authorities believe the young woman died during an airstrike in February 2015.

The White House refused to make further comments regarding Kayla’s death, who would have turned 28 earlier this month.
