Several Turkish tanks entered Syria’s territory and are shooting towards the Islamic State groups, in the Sirian city Jarablus.
About ten Turkish tanks had crossed the border into Syria. A Reuters reporter stated he saw six Turkish tanks which have crossed the Syrian border state and that he has witnessed intense bombing in the area.
The Syrian government condemns the Turkish incursion, considering it a ‘flagrant violation’ of the sovereignty of the country.
Damascus condemns the Turkish-Syrian border violation by tanks and armored Turkish heading to Jarablus, with air cover from the coalition led by Washington, and believes that it is a flagrant violation of its sovereignty, the Foreign Ministry declared.
According to him, any antiterrorist operation inside Syria must be worn in coordination with Damascus.
The communiqué also said that Ankara launched the incursion to replace the Islamic State with other ‘terrorist groups’, a term designating rebels.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared that on Wednesday evening operations against the Islamic state forces and Kurdish faction of the Democratic Party were launched in Syria.
At an event in the capital Ankara, Erdogan said in a televised speech that attacks in Syria must be stopped.
In the same time, he also declared that this morning operations against the terrorist groups that continue to be a threat to Turkey had started.
The Turkish military and the International Coalition Forces launched an operation on Wednesday morning to chase away the jihadist group from the Islamic State of Jarablus located near the border with Turkey.
