Hillary Clinton’s bid for President of the United States has faced four serious threats according to a variety of sources on August 22, 2016. The threats focus the use of a private email server as Secretary of State, newly revealed emails, and the use of the position of Secretary of State to provide funding for the Clinton Foundation in return for extraordinary favors and benefits to contributing entities.

A federal judge has ordered Clinton to respond to written questions about emails published in part by Judicial Watch. Another judge has ordered Clinton to be ready to answer questions about 14,900 newly discovered emails that originated from the State Department. Senate and House Republicans have issued subpoenas to the manufacturers of the servers that Clinton used.

Clinton has agreed to answer written questions within one month. Clinton also asserts that Colin Powell had advised her to use a private email server. Powell denies any recollection of the conversation. The State Department has refused to make further investigation of Clinton’s email predicament. The present Secretary of State is an Obama appointee.

The Clinton foundation has come under fire for taking funds in a manner that is considered to be quid pro quo. The funds may have been used by the Clinton Presidential campaign but no justification of the allegation exists at present. The Clinton family has changed the name of the organization and has asserted that the nonprofit will not take money from foreign entities in the future.

Donald Trump was quick to claim that the supposed lack of honesty involved in funds for the foundation and the email controversy make Clinton incapable of being President. Clinton leads Trump in the majority of polls by a small margin.

There is insufficient time between the election and any possible court action against Clinton. Even the speediest court action or decision against Clinton could be delayed easily until after the election by an appeal.
