A woman aged 21 was stabbed to death and a man of 30 years was seriously injured Tuesday night in Australia in Queensland state town of Home Hill by a French citizen shouting “Allahu akbar”. Both of the victims were of British nationality.
It is assumed that the suspect, a French citizen for 29 years, spoke the words “Allahu Akbar”, both during the attack and during his arrest, said Steve Gollschewski deputy commissioner of police in Queensland.
The attacker is believed to be a French citizen and the attack happened in a hostel in town where the victims were accommodated.
The suspect is now in hospital in the town of Townsville, where he receives treatment for his injuries which not life-threatening.
A second man suffered minor injuries and was discharged from the hospital. A dog in the hostel also died in the attack.
Police said they are no longer looking for anyone in connection with the incident.
Gollschewski added that the attack is not linked with the Islamic terrorist network and that the French citizen was in the country for about a year, with a temporary visa.
Australia was not targeted so far by extremists so there is not a certain link between the terrorists and the suspect.
More and more attacks coming from the Islamic terrorist network are happening all around the world, people starting to be more scared than ever and having second thoughts of weather to attend big events or crowded places. Tourism in a lot of states is suffering as well.
