Real Madrid, Replacing Power Brand Adidas with Nike

Economically speaking, Manchester United is the most powerful football club in the world, representing a pretty disturbing aspect for Real Madrid.

The officials from ‘Bernabeu’ wants to change the situation putting an end to 18 years of collaboration with Adidas.

Real Madrid wishes to change their kit deal with Adidas in order to replace them with their rivals. Apparently, the Madrilenians are in the middle of a very advanced negotiation with Nike, planning to sponsor the ‘galactics’ with £100 million per season. So far, Adidas offered Real a £33,5 million sponsorship.

Nike has some profitable deals with Barcelona, providing them £120 million per season. ‘Madrid has a contract with Adidas and found out that United signed a giant contract with the same brand. Real is the champion of Europe while Manchester United was not able to win anything. The deal worth €120 million for each season offered by Nike is interesting’ , told the Spanish journalists.

The relationship between Adidas and Real Madrid began in 1998 when the Spanish club gave up Kelme to sign with the German brand. In the same year, FC Barcelona closed a deal with Nike, generating a rivalry between the two groups, which lasts today.

The OK Diario CEO, Eduardo Inda, said that Nike wants to take advantage of the fact that Real Madrid was extremely disturbed that Adidas signed a contract worth €96 million with Manchester United, while the Madrilenians received only € 75 million per year from the German manufacturer.
