Thirty suspects were detained and more than 300 kilograms of cocaine were seized in a special operation conducted by the German and Serbian forces.
The mission was initiated 13 months ago and the police confiscated more than 300 kg of cocaine, 96 kg of cannabis and 106 kg of hashish. The entire supply is worth more than $20 million dollars.
Four suspects were arrested in Belgrade and the authorities are still looking for a fifth dealer, said the Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs Nebojsa Stefanovic during a press conference.
The successful mission is an excellent example of the collaboration between Germany and Serbia in order to fight against organized crime and corruption.
‘Serbia will continue to work with Germany in the fight against organized crime and corruption’, added Stefanovic.
The group of suspects also include nine police officers. Serbia, like Albania and Macedonia, the Balkan route is used by numerous criminal groups involved in human trafficking, drugs, and even weapons.
The arresting took place in the Montenegro neighboring and seven more suspects are on the run. The suspects face drug smuggling, weapons possession and abuse of power charges, the statement said.
