Because the authorities issued a curfew in the state of Bangalore, India, incidents of vandalism and looting took place on the streets over the release of water from a disputed river with one of the neighboring states.
After a group of protesters set on fire a police a vehicle and a motorbike, the police opened fire on Monday, one protester was killed and another one was wounded.
The situation was brought under control after the police issued curfews in the troubling parts of Bangalore because rampaging mobs set multiple fires on buses, trucks, cars and attacked businesses and shops in Bangalore and in other parts of the state as well.
Nearly 40 busses were damaged or burned in a private Bangalore transport company, as images rose on the television.
The Karnasha officials said that because the states had not enough water supply, hence the dispute between the two states, over the Cauvery River.
Earlier on Monday, a hotel in Chennai from the state of Tamil Nadu was vandalized starting disputes between the two states.
Last week an order from the Supreme Court was issued, asking Karnataka to release 15.000 cusecs for a period of ten days to Tamil Nadu, which leads to protest coming from the farmers of Karnataka who were saying that they don’t have enough water for themselves.
An appeal was made by Karnataka and ended in a smaller amount of water being delivered towards Tamil Nadu.
In order to prevent passengers being attacked, the authorities from Karnataka stopped the bus services that were programed to go to Tamil Nadu.
