According to wtatennis.com, the match between Serena and Simona Halep was one of the best tennis matches of the year, considered by the press a literal ‘confrontation of titans’.
The Guardian wrote that Simona Halep represented a major challenge for the American tennis legend.
‘Serena survived in the epic match with Halep at the US Open. No. 1 World Serena Williams, won one of the best matches of the year, imposing herself in front of Simona Halep in a literal titanic confrontation of three sets’, wrote the British newspaper.
Williams had to push herself ‘squeezing’ an extra boost of determination, courage, and imagination in order to beat the young Romanian that ‘bent and bent herself, refusing to give up’.

Williams was given the toughest fight of her tournament so far by Halep but survived in Arthur Ashe Stadium to win 6-2 4-6 6-3.
