Kanye West receives Jesus-like gold statue in Hollywood

Everyone knows that Kanye West has compared himself with Jesus before, naming his line ‘Yeezus’ and even having an album entitled like this. But now, this has been taken a step further. The rapper received his very own statue made of a gold material in Hollywood. What’s more, he is pictured as Jesus.

An artist that specializes in street art is responsible. He unveiled his work yesterday. He entitles himself ‘Plastic Jesus’.

The statue is gold and has the shape of crucifixion. Everything looks like Jesus, except the face, which is Kanye’s, the Yeezys and the two gold chains. The work is entitled ‘False Idol’.

The artist explained what inspired him in making this. The way the rapper is treated by the public and media is just like he is some sort of an idol.

He admits that Kanye has some serious talent, but he is treated as he is being a God, while he is definitely not. The artist also pointed that West is idolized until something bad happens with his career and then, it feels like he is crucified.

‘Plastic Jesus’ has raised controversy with his works before. For example, a few years ago, he created an Oscar statue that was snorting cocaine. He always chooses to showcase his work in the Oscars week.

The artist and a friend of his from Las Vegas are collaborating on a project that will be released soon. Apparently, he plans on showing it at the Tower Records.

Kanye hasn’t responded yet, but he might like the work as it includes him being compared to Jesus and plenty of gold.
