Often, we can not predict a disaster long time before it happens.
So, a group of students found a solution to protect the smart houses even if a major disaster occurs.
Because we are living in homes that are already equipped with smart gadgets, two students from the University of Florida have created a way for these devices to work in our favor if a major crisis happens.
In essence, the two inventors have used motion, doors, water and sensors, which are the basis of the smart devices provided by manufacturers.
The invention is thus designed to gather and quickly transmit the information through data internet during a disaster.
The idea behind the invention is that the information gathered will help us respond and find solutions faster than usual.
Also, this idea has drawn the attention of IBM’s officials, who agreed to work with the two young researchers.
In designing the system, the team of students examined how firefighters respond to a large-scale fire.
During a crisis like this, firefighters were quickly organized through social networks.
In this way, they could communicate with each other, but they could also inform all those who owned houses near the sparked fire.
Using the same idea, students have imagined the possibility that intelligent houses could talk to each other.
So, if a disaster occurrs, the ingenious systems will help their owners to take decisions to save the locals (eg: to close all the electrical devices so they won’t risk a fire).
By resorting to artificial intelligence and advanced calculations, the teams could create a way to evaluate people’s emotions and reactions during the crisis, which allowed them to create a basis to make the platform as user-friendly as possible.
