After 17 months in a prison from North Korea, American student Otto Warmbier was released and sent home, after staying in a coma for more than a year.

According to Time, three American citizens are currently behind bars in North Korea: Kim Hak Song, Sang-Duk and Kim Dong Chul.

North Korean authorities arrested Kim Hak Song suspecting him of ‘committing actions against the state’.

Song, an employee of the University of Science and Technology in Pyongyang, was arrested on May 6th.

The other American citizen, arrested on April 22, is Sang-Duk Kim, a professor from the same university.

Regarding Sang-Duk Kim, the media sources of the North Korean regime did not specify the reasons for his arrest at the time of the bust.

The third detainee, 64-year-old Kim Dong Chul, was arrested in October 2015 on charges of spying on account of ‘conservative elements in South Korea’.

Chul was sentenced in 2016 to ten years of forced labor, almost a week after Otto Warmbier was imprisoned.
