Qatar, a country labeled by its neighbors and even by US President Donald Trump as ‘terrorist-friendly’, has just signed a $12 billion purchasing contract with the Pentagon.

The Qatari government is set to acquire numerous US fighters produced by Boeing, writes Bloomberg.

According to the Pentagon, the new deal has the main purpose of increasing the cooperation between Qatar’s armed forces and the US.

Considering the United States has this major air base near Doha, the ‘why not’ question is kind of irrelevant.

Currently, Qatar’s air forces are among the weakest in the Gulf because they only have nine fighter jets and those are old and shabby.
