A not-so-familiar figure in the US, but a literal star of Russia’s anti-Putin community, Leonid Volkov is the mastermind who managed every single one of Alexei Navalny’s political strategies.

Volkov’s supreme target is to dethrone Putin in the race for the Russian Federation’s presidency and POLITICO offered a “portrait” of the politician who is determined to defeat the world’s most powerful man.

Obviously, writes Marc Bennettss, the author of the article, Leonid Volkov has not escaped from KGB’s small incursions into the cells of Moscow’s police stations, taken by force from the middle of various protests organized by Navalny.

However, despite the numerous obstacles encountered through his career, Russia’s most notorious political figure managed to inaugurate no less than “over 60 offices for Navalny’s 2018 campaign, spread across Russia, from Vladivostok to St. Petersburg” and everything has been founded through crowdfunding campaigns and private donations.

“We are trying to expose a black and white image to the Russian people, forcing them to think about politics and the future of their country, forcing them to choose a side. Are you for Putin or ar you for Navalny?”, is one Volkov’s mottos.

A landmark on which the Russian politician counts is the striking contrast between the dynamics of Navalny’s campaign and Vladimir Putin’s classical “low energy” campaign, characterized by the absence of electoral debates and the general apathy of the controversial president.

Volkov is aware that virtually “there is no chance” that Alexei Navalny’ss name to be included on this spring’s ballots, but this may be a decisive advantage: “The goal of our campaign is to create an less politically profitable.”

“When everyone thinks that the only reason Navalny’s name is not included on the ballots is because Putin fears him.”, revealed Leonid.
