The British Royal Family is always sharp and sharp looking especially the Duchess of Cambridge’s whose style and elegance are constantly acclaimed by stylists and fashion critics from all around the world.

However, not many know that every single member of the Royal Family is obliged to carry in their luggage black clothes.

According to The Independent, the reason is quite morbid: Harry, William, Kate and even the Queen or Prince Philip must carry at least one black attire in case one of their relatives dies during one of their official tours.

The British publication claims this is their way of showing respect for the grim moment even if they are not in the UK.

This policy is mandatory for all members of the royal family, especially for those who must travel abroad.

In 1952, Queen Elizabeth II visited Kenya with Prince Philip when she was informed that her father, King George VI, had died.

The Queen did not have a black dress in her luggage, being forced to return to the UK in “inappropriate” clothes.

When she got back to the UK, she was expected by one of her employee’s with a black dress with which she had changed before she left the plane.
