At least 23 people have died and seven others have been injured after a massive explosion at a fireworks plant in India generated a massive chaos, writes BBC.

The fire units needed more than three hours to quench the fire after the explosion devastated the factory situated in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

A local official said that the exact cause of the explosion is still a mystery at this moment, but they suspect everything would have been triggered by a randomly dumped cigarette.

Such incidents are relatively common in India

The authorities have announced the victims’ relatives will receive financial compensations and the state will pay the medical expenses of the injured.
