12 prisoners have escaped from an Alabama detention center by using… peanut butter

Unusual escape in the US where 12 prisoners managed to break free from an Alabama prison by using only one thing: peanut butter.

Unfortunately, even it sounds super funny, it’s not a joke.

The extremely dangerous criminals have managed to make their way out by covering the numbers identifying an outside door with peanut butter.

After completely covering the numbers, the squad told a new security guard to open it from his control booth, while he was monitoring them at the surveillance point.

“Changing numbers on doors with peanut butter – It may sound crazy, but these kinds of people are crazy like a fox”, stated Walker County Sheriff James Underwood for CBS.

“He thought he was opening the cell door for this man to go in his cell, but in fact, he opened up the outside door”, added the sheriff during a press conference.

12 prisons have escaped that day and 11 were captured a few hours after the alarm went on.

The fugitives are between 18 and 30 years of age and were jailed for various offenses, from violent behavior, attempted murder, and drug trafficking.
