There are reports making the news, that Google is currently designing an operating system (OS). The OS is not an upgrade to Chrome OS or Android; rather it’s an entirely new system that isn’t derived from the Linux kernel. The fantastic thing about this OS is that it will work across everything; including smart home devices, and smartphones. Presently, Google’s operating systems are all centered on Linux; from Chrome OS to Android. However, reports have it that Google is moving on from Linux for an ecosystem. The new OS, currently called Fuchsia makes use of the new Magenta kernel which will compete with other viable operating systems, like Thread X and Free RTOS.
The language used by Google in programming Fuchsia is Dart language, more so the OS uses flutter to produce its user interface. This shows that Google is obviously eager for a Material Design look for Fuchsia.
No official announcement has been made by Google concerning the new OS. However, a report has it that some engineers at the company reinstated the fact and confirmed a few details about the OS. One of the engineers said that Google had earlier decided to design Fuchsia from the beginning, and that is the reason it can be seen publicly. Another engineer stated that Google would make official announcement and documentation about Fuchsia, but presently the company has not fixed a time frame when it will be done.
The company’s CEO Sundar Pichai at the Recode conference held in June this year, said that they would go the extra mile to make Android Nexus smartphones more efficient. We can only keep guessing what Google has in store; we expect it to be exciting.
