The series that premiere on AMC just confirmed some very controversial rumors. Their Jesus is actually gay.
‘The Walking Dead’ introduced this character last year and is played by Tom Payne.
Ever since Jesus debuted on screen, fans of the series thought that something was different about him. It wasn’t like they were used to see him and thought that his sexuality was different.
In the comics, the same character is gay, so the producers wanted to keep its sexuality like this. The episode from last night just confirmed the speculation that has been going on for a while.
The episode is entitled “The Other Side” and confirms Jesus as the third gay character of the series. Jesus reveals his sexuality as he talks with Maggie, he talks about his childhood and the home he grew up in and how he never felt like he belongs anywhere.
Then, he reveals that it’s hard to get close to someone, friends and “boyfriends”. With this simple line, the character pretty much confirmed everything that was thought of him.
This show has evolved a lot from its very first season. The producer started to add more diverse characters and started representing the LGBT community.
Robert Kirkman is that one that wrote the comics with the same name. He declared that the sexuality of this character is not important and he didn’t want to focus on that, but on who he is as a person.
Not only this show, but the whole TV world started to be more inclusive. People are no longer surprised when they see a gay character on TV or a transgender one.
