The family of the late Hollywood icons held a very touching public memorial yesterday, so fans can get one last chance to honor them.
Carrie Fisher died in December and was soon followed by her mother, Debbie Reynolds. After being buried in January, the family thought that people who loved them also need to get a chance to say goodbye.
The memorial was also streamed online live so everyone across the globe can see it.
Some of the dear and close friends of the late stars paid tributes. Todd Fisher, the brother of the late ‘Star Wars’ alum welcomed on stage several personalities.
For example, R2-D2 took the stage.
A huge screen showed moments of their life, of Debbie’s scenes in ‘Star Wars’, of Debbie’s movies. At the entrance, Todd brought some of the family’s artifacts.
On stage, he revealed that his mother always hated funerals, instead she liked to party. He said that his mother said after her daughter passed away that she needs to be buried with her even if she had other plans before. Todd didn’t expect his mother to go away so soon.
As he wanted to respect his mother’s wish, Todd invited several artists who sang and danced. Some recreated her moment from “Singin’ in the Rain,” one of her most popular movies.
James Blunt wrote a song especially for his and sang it at the end. A chorus from California sang “True Colors”. The chorus was formed of gay men, which is a tribute to Carrie, who has always been a supporter of the LGBTQ community.
