After a mission at the temple Amenhotep II, researchers found a beautiful statue of woman that is still in a pretty good condition. They think that this could be the statue of Queen Tiye, the grandmother of Tutankhamen.
The carve is pretty massive and located on the ruins of the ancient city Thebes.
Archaeologists were amazed of this wonderful and unexpected discovery. They believe it is one of a kind.
They stumbled upon it as they tried to lift a portion of the colossus of King Amenhotep the third. Tiye was his wife, so it is a great possibility that the statue resembles her.
The gorgeous statue is really tall and confectioned out of alabaster.
The Egyptian Minister of Antiquities opened up about this discovery and declared that it is absolutely beautiful. Khaled El-Enany visited the colossus and took a picture with the stunning sculpture.
The members of the research team think that the statue is in a really good condition after so many years and even has some of its colors intact.
Now, after discovering it, the experts are going to restore it.
The same team made other stunning discoveries earlier this month. They stumbled upon various statues, including ones of a warrior goddess that is pictured with the head of a lion. They believe that these statues have more than two thousand years.
Experts are still trying to figure one great mystery: Pharaoh Tutankhamen’s family. There are already some beliefs of whom was is father, but the identity of his mother is still a secret. Until now, experts came up with several theories about his mother, but did not came up with something concrete.
