Citrus fruits such as grapefruits, lemons, mandarins or lime could counteract the harmful effects of obesity caused by fat and sugar.

These fruits are full of nutrients, vitamin C, pectin, and naringenin.

According to specialists, including these fruits into your diet prevents obesity-related heart disease, liver disease, and diabetes.

Citruses are full of feed additives such as pectin and naringenin, amazing natural substances known for their incredible effects when it comes to reducing fat.

In addition, the vitamin C content lowers cholesterol levels and protects your blood sheds.

The most important compounds when it comes to these fruits are flavonoids. Without the natural flavonoids found in citrus, ascorbic acid is easily oxidized and can actually harm your body.

In 2006, a group of researchers from Florida discovered that a 120ml of grapefruit juice at every meal, could hep you shed 1.5 kg per week.

The American researchers believe that naringenin helped the liver to lower cholesterol and to prevent insulin levels from getting high.

The institute conducted the experiment on four groups of mice.

The first group was fed with extremely healthy foods. The second one consumed high-fat foods, while the third and the fourth group was fed with the exact same foods and a naringenin-based supplement.

After four weeks, the mice from the second group became obese and intolerant to insulin and glucose.

The groups who received the naringenin supplement had incredible results.

Although they consumed the same fat and calories, their weight remained the same.
