The 42-year-old actor revealed that in the past years he has been dealing with depression. He gave the fan a glimpse of how he learned to cope with it.
In an interview accorded to the PEOPLE magazine, the actor opened up about his family life, fame and struggles.
He reveals that he took a break from acting so he could take care of his three children. Phillippe has two children with actress Reese Witherspoon: Ava, 17 and Deacon, 13 and one with Alexis Knapp, 5-year-old Kailani.
He said he took this decision so that he can see his children grow up, now that they are a little bit older, he is able to enjoy acting again.
The actor is returning to the screen with a new show, ‘Shooter’.
His depression affected him on a larger basis when he was younger, in his 20’s or 30’s, but now he has a grip on it and has found the key to defeating it.
“I think the amount of reading that I’ve done, the work on myself and the ways that I’ve found to cope are healthier,” said the star.
When it comes to being affected by the media, he says that his 2006 divorce from Reese Witherspoon helped him be much tougher and not as sensible.
Now, he says that he is in a happy state, which he hopes will be around for a while.
He reached a positive place and is ready for embracing the future and to making as many things as possible.
