2016 has disappointed everyone by taking so many valued stars. From musicians to athletes, to screen and stage celebrities, political figures, this year ended the life of many.


Have a look at the long list of the artists this year the world has lost.


David Bowie died at age of 69 after battling cancer. He was a pop-rock phenomenon, that broke boundaries with his amazingly creative music and stunning visuals. He passed away on January 10.


Rene  Angelil, Celine Dion’s other half, broke his wife’s heart when he died on January 14. He was 73 and was battling cancer. He is responsible for Dion’s striking success and career.


Alan Rickman, ‘Harry Potter’s iconic star, died at the age of 69 on January 14. The British star is greatly missed by fans.


Abe Vigoda, 94, 70’s “Barney Miller” star and soldier of the mafia in “Godfather”, died on January 26.


George Gaynes died on February 15 at the age of 89. His performance in the “Police academy” series was amazingly funny and his comedy “Tootsie” will always be a hit.


February 19 took away Umberto Eco, 84, who enchanted his readers with his best-seller, historical novel “The Name of the Rose’’.


George Kennedy, 91, died on February 28. He is an Oscar-winning actor and is known for his 60’s “Cool hand Luke’’ performance.


On March 6, Ronald Reagan’s actor wife, Nancy Reagan passed away. The 94-year-old had a great success in the 20th century.


Frank Sinatra Jr., 72, died on March 16 after his career has carried his father’s legacy.


Garry Shandling, actor, a comedian who created the docudrama “The Larry Sanders Show” died on March 24 at the age of 66.


Mother Mary Angelica, the Roman Catholic nun that brought the Catholic TV EWTN to life, died on March 27 at 92 years-old.


Doris Roberts, 90, who played the beloved mother on “Everybody loves Raymond”, died on April 17.


One of the most influential artists of today, Prince, died at only 57 years-old on April 21.


Muhammad Ali,  “The Greatest” champion, died at the age of 74 on June 3.


Theresa Saldana, 61, who is known for “Raging Bull” and “The Commish”, died on June 6.


Anton Yelchin died at only 27 years-old. He is known for playing in the fan-favorite “Star Trek”. He died in a car accident on June 19.


The New York Times photographer, Bill Cunningham, was 87 when he died on June 25.


Garry Marshall, 81, legendary director and writer, died on July 19.


Gene Wilder, 83, the “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” actor, died on August 28.


Greta Zimmer Friedman, portrayed in the infamous WWII New York kissing photo, died on September 8.


Transgender actress, 47-year-old Alexis Arquette, died on September 11.


Leonard Cohen, 82, an amazing songwriter and singer, died on November 7.


Florence Henderson, 82, Broadway star and “The Brady Bunch” beloved mother, died on November 24.


Fidel Castro, 90, dictator and Cuban leader that revolutionized his country, died on November 25.


John Glenn, 95, the first US astronaut to orbit the earth, died on December 8.


Alan Thicke, 69, “Growing Pains’’ star, died on December 13.


Zsa Zsa Gabor, 99, Hungarian beauty, Hollywood icon, who had nine marriages, died on December 18.


George Michael, 53, 80’s superstar and legendary singer, died on December 25.


Carrie Fisher, 60, best known for her character in “Star Wars” and as an inspiration, died on December 27.


Debbie Reynolds, 84, who starred in “Singing in the rain”, followed her daughter, Carrie Fisher,  one day after she died, on December 28.


Many other legendary stars have died in this tragic year, but let’s hope there will be no more to follow.
