Verizon: Samsung may proceed disabling all the remaining Note 7

Verizon officially announced on Thursday they will allow Samsung to send a software update to all their users that will automatically ‘kill’ their Galaxy Note 7 smartphones.

We don’t have any information about how come they shifted course, but it’s true: all the remaining Samsung Note 7 will be destroyed starting January 5^th.

Samsung had previously announced its intention to disable all Galaxy Note 7 smartphones that are still in circulation in the United States because of the risk of explosion.

But one of the largest mobile operators in the country, Verizon, categorically refused, according to AFP.

Both companies have invoked security issues.

Samsung explained their desire to ‘accelerate the recalling’ back in the factory of all devices in danger to explode and catch fire

So far, 93% of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 previously sold in the United States have been returned to the factory by their owners, says News.ro.

In an official statement, the South Korean group has announced they want to develop a program that will be automatically installed on all Galaxy Note 7 phones, that will prevent them from charging and will make them unusable.

On the other hand, Verizon refused to participate in this endeavor ‘because of the additional risks this operation would represent to Galaxy Note 7 owners who do not possess another device’.

‘We do not want it to be impossible for them to contact their families or medical emergency services’, said the company in a statement.

Galaxy Note 7 was to become the top of Samsung phones, but many devices have caught fire or exploded.
