The radiation coming from your smartphone is not strong enough to affect the fertility or potency of a man, even if the device is kept in the front pocket of your trousers, according to an author who analyzed several studies conducted by leading scientists.
Scientists have warned over time that X-rays and radio waves can affect different tissues and the differences are caused by wavelengths.
X-rays can affect your tissues because they have short wavelengths, but radio waves emitted by different handsets or smart devices have long wavelengths and less energy, too little to cause negative effects.
Timothy Jorgensen, the author of ‘Strange Glow: The Story of Radiation’, says that phones do not produce heat because of radio waves, but because of the chemical reactions that occur inside the batteries.
Lately, all sorts of protective inventions have appeared, even underwear which is supposed to protect men’s sensitive parts of radiation waves. But, it seems that this danger does not exist in reality.
Jorgensen writes in his book about the soldiers in the Second World War who volunteered to work near radar stations because they thought that the radio waves can cause temporary sterility.
The US military wanted to check this theory and asked Hermann Muller, a Nobel Laureate scientist who has dedicated his entire life studying X-rays, if this is true. Muller found no connection between radio waves and sterility. The researcher concluded that they are safe.
However, a study conducted by Technion University in Haifa has drawn attention to the fact that the habit of holding the phone in the front pocket of your trousers can affect the quality of the semen.
Apparently, it is quite possible that this is caused by the heat of the devices, rather than the electromagnetic radiation.
