Facebook, the main starting point of extramarital affairs

Gone are the days when people were meeting their extramarital partners at parties, in bars or in the park.

According to Luke Athens from Heartbreakers company, a private Australian detective who investigated cases of extramarital affairs for 20 years already, Facebook is the place to start most infidelities.

From Athens’ experience, half of the cases of infidelity in recent years had started through the largest online social network in the world.

So, now that we know where the infidelities start, who are the people that become the third wheel? At least for men, we have an answer.

Extramarital affairs website IllicitEncounters.com conducted an online survey to find out what is the most common type of woman chosen by most men to cheat on their wives.

First in the top stood the children’s nannies (25% of respondents). 18% of the respondents confessed they cheated their partners with an old friend, while other 17% admitted they fell for the housekeeping lady. 12% cheated with their sister-in-law and 5% with their best friend.

According to psychologist Simona Ciff, 40% of the women (the number is increasing) and 60% of men are involved at some point in their lives, in an extramarital affair.

‘It is possible that the statistics seem enormous, but both I and other psychologists, who offer couples’ counseling know this is true. You may notice changes in the partner’s behavior and such as: absence, negligence and loss of productivity. But even when noticing, that does not mean that your cheating partner will admit having an affair,’ stated psychologist Ciff.
